Breaking Dawn By: Stephenie Meyer

“You could run from someone you feared, you could try to fight someone you hated. All my reactions were geared toward those kinds of killers – the monsters, the enemies. When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give your beloved, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?”

Just to let you know off the bat, there are massive spoilers in this blog post. These words set the tone for the fourth and final book in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight books have sparked a phenomenon across the country with both males and females of all ages. As you probably know already the books in this series are based on the concept of a girl finding her true love in a vampire. Once you get past the fact that the book is about vampires and the fact that Bella' (the main girl in the books), is so quick to accept the concept of vampires into her life, there is a great story to be enjoyed here. The books preceding this one have set up the basic concept that Edward Cullen is a vegetarian vampire; Meaning that he is a vampire that drinks animal blood instead of human blood. Again you must have an open mind to read these books, and this post. Bella is a girl who is new to town and happens to sit next to Edward in Biology. As fate would have it, the smell of Bella’s blood is purely intoxicating to Edward. To complement Edward’s attraction to Bella, Bella easily falls madly in love for Edward. Eventually she figures out that he is a vampire and easily accepts this fact. The first complication to the new love is Bella’s long time friend who is currently her best friend, Jacob. You see, Jacob is crazy ni love with Bella while Bella is in love with Edward. Although there is more to Jacob and Bella’s relationship than just friendship, Jacob can’t win Bella over. Bella has physical interaction with Jacob beyond what would occur between two friends. What makes this situation even more complicated is that Jacob is thought to be a werewolf, the sworn enemy of vampires. Anyway the book continues Bella and Edward get married, fight off the menacing Volturi coven, have a half-vampire half-human baby and live happily ever after.

“But most significant in this tidal wave of happiness was the surest fact of all: I was with Edward. Forever.”

Believe it or not I actually enjoyed reading this book. It was nice to finally understand what all the girls and a few other brave guys have been talking about. I would highly recommend these books to anyone who is willing to kill some time getting sucked into a story of an odd but very true love. Many readers, including me, will find many many ways that this story connects to real life. Many situations, minus the vampire stuff, are very realistic and the feelings expressed in these books are accurate and really pique the readers thought and emotions.
The only question I have is why haven’t you read it yet?

“Now you know. No one’s ever loved anyone as much as I love you.”
