Twilight By: Stephenie Meyer

"About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him – and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be – that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally, and irrevocably in love with him." -Bella Swan
Twilight is about a girl named Bella. Bella is 17 and has just moved to live with her father. She is very mature for her age; she stays away from leisure activities of high school, such as hanging out with friends or going to school dances. Bella is also shown to be independent; she cooks and shops for her and her father. Until she meets Edward Cullen. He is a guy at her school, no one really knows about, nor his family, because they are all so mysterious. Though Bella is intrigued by him, when they finally meet, they do not get along. But that quickly changes. Shortly after, Bella discovers, Edward and his whole family are vampires! This secret does not keep Bella from falling in love with him and they, then, become inseparable. The whole story, first of the series, is the romance of Edward and Bella. I like how it shows a vampire, not monstrous, but loving. Twilight is so much different then most books in this genre. When people hear vampire in a book they think it would be like Dracula, but this story is so much better. Meyers does a very good job describing the characters and settings. The reader can actually feel like they are there in Forks! She also does a good job by making the Cullen's, Edwards family, very mysterious, making you want more at the end of the novel. This story is very romantic, but also has action in it. It has recently been made into a movie, but the book is way better. When I first heard of it, I thought, "Wow that probably is the weirdest book ever!" Once I started to read it, I couldn't put it done! It is full of suspense and romance that keeps the reader going, all the way till the end of the fourth novel! Another thing I liked about this story was that it is easy to read. It is hard for me to enjoy a book if it is written in weird language so that was a positive. Twilight also involves morals, such as abstinence and trust. Everyone says, "Twilight is so popular!", well, I think it is more then that. Bands we listen to are popular, but it doesn't get adults listening to them. Twilight is so popular that even adults read and enjoy the novel! This novel also has been compared to a book like Harry Potter. Though both have adventure, Twilight is easier and more interesting to read so I would recommend Twilight over Harry Potter. Like I said, by the end of the novel you want to read even more! Twilight is only the first of four books in the series.

  1. Twilight is certainly a fascinating novel. I agree with the statement that it captivates the attention of the reader. The relationship full of love between Bella and Edward definitely fills the novel, as mentioned in the review. Overall, I would agree with the review of Twilight. However, the basic language of the novel will most likely keep it from becoming a classic, as suggested in the review. Also, one looking for more sophistication and intensity should, in my opinion, read the Harry Potter series. Twilight captures the attention of many readers, and I would have to suggest others to this book to see for themselves.

  2. Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer, is a truly extraordinary novel. As the first book in the series it introduces the young couple Bella and Edward. As mentioned in the review, the novel grabs you in causes you to not put down the story till you are through. Twilight leaves its readers longing to discover what Bella will encounter in the next book. I agree with this critic on the fact that Twilight is an easy read. Although an easy read I would strongly recommend for someone unaware of this novel to pick up a copy and get ready to discover what a magnificent love story lies beneath the cover.
