New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

New Moon ( the sequel to Twilight) by Stephenie Meyer, is about losing true love. In the story Edward has to resort to drastic measures after his vampire brother tries to attack Bella. He decides that it would be better and safer for Bella if he and his family move away without leaving a trace behind. After he leaves, Bella is distraught and can’t seem to live without him. And she can’t until she crosses paths with an old family friend, Jacob Black. Even though Jacob makes Bella fell almost whole again she still can’t think about Edward or else she can’t move because of the pain. But she soon realizes that whenever she is in danger she can hear Edward’s voice almost perfectly telling her how to become safe again. Bella then resorts to drastic measures to hear Edward’s voice; most of these measures involve Jacob. For example, Bella got Jacob to teach her how to ride a motorcycle and talks him into taking her cliff diving. But then Jacob starts to avoid her. And after a couple of weeks of no contact, Bella demands for him to tell her what is going on. But Jacob can’t tell her because it is against ‘tribal law’ (Jacob lives on a nearby reservation). So Bella has to resort to guessing to figure out what is going on with Jacob. She eventually figures out that Jacob has turned into a werewolf. This pack of werewolves that Jacob is in doesn’t hunt humans they protect them. After a couple of weeks of not hearing Edward’s voice Bella decides it is time for Jacob to take her cliff diving like he has promised. But he can’t go because he is on a werewolf mission so she goes by herself. She jumps off the cliff and almost drowns in the water below. But right in time Jacob saves her. Alice, Edward’s vampire sister, can see the future and she has a vision about Bella jumping off of the cliff but never coming out of the water. She is worried so she goes to see if Bella is okay and she is. But Edward having heard about the incident thinks Bella is dead. So Edward goes to see the Volturi vampires in Italy to see if they will kill him because he thinks he cannot live without Bella. Alice ‘sees’ him doing this so her and Bella rush to Italy to save him. They succeed but with much difficulty. Edward realizes that he and Bella need each other, and that she wasn’t better off without them.

I really enjoyed New Moon because, like Twilight, it has sci-fi, romance, and action all in one. Stephenie Meyer writes this novel in such a way that the readers and the characters share the same emotions throughout the story. Once you get start reading New Moon you won’t be able to stop. The novel keeps you attached the whole time leaving you begging for more.

I would defiantly recommend this novel to everyone. It was a great read and it makes you realize how lucky you are to have some of the stuff you do. New Moon really makes you appreciate some of the people in your life and what they would do for you.
